The Future is Now!
We believe all people are recreating society all of the time. Artists magnify, amplify and catalyze this collective creative process. Future Now Productions represents activists and artists committed to challenging unjust social structures; visioning a brighter future for everyone, not just a privileged few; and proliferating joy and collective, creative engagement and empowerment.
Not all of our artists identify as social artists who intentionally create politically motivated work, but they all contribute to the recreation of our world in the image of the best of our common humanity. They do so by directly confronting racism, patriarchy, domination, imperialist capitalism, heterosexism and other systems of oppression and exploitation; by empowering people to connect with their creative power; or by contributing to the multiplication of delight.
Future Now Productions, was founded in 2008 by Becky Renfrow and Melissa Knowles. Becky has a background in performing arts, community activism, popular education and event organizing. Melissa's background is in art (sculpture, performance, and graphic/webdesign), psychology, and circus arts. Together they create playful circus arts and support the work of the fantastic artists of Future Now Productions.
